"The Leading Men" are proud finalists in the Australian Event Awards!

The Australian Event Awards is the pinnacle awads program for the events industry in Australia.  It is the only opportunity for Australian events and event organisers to be acknowledged on a level playing field, across the entire national events industry.

For the first year ever, the Awards will include an "Entertainer of the Year" category.  Lovegrove Entertainment is extremely proud to announce that its corporate entertainment act "The Leading Men" are finalists in this category.

“The 2011 Event Awards has again delivered us an outstanding calibre of entries this year, and the decision on finalists presented some difficult choices for the judging panel,” said Johnny Allen, Co-chair of the Judges.

"The Leading Men" was created by corporate entertainment entrepreneur and award-winning musical theatre performer Darryl Lovegrove. Comprised of the cream of the crop of Australia's musical theatre talent - each of the four performers has played one or more 'leading roles' on the Australian stage.

Inspired by the Broadway musical, the performers sing the showstoppers from blockbuster musicals that made them stars, featuring almost every era of musical theatre from the classics of the 40's-60's such as "Carousel","Cabaret" and "Guys "n Dolls" through to smash hit millenium musicals "Spamalot", "Wicked" and "Hairspray". Guaranteed to offer something for everyone, they perform a medley of classic hits written by Australian artists as diverse as Jimmy Barnes, ACDC, Peter Allen and John Williamson but with a twist - they're sung in Italian.

Described by Sir Michael Parkinson as "a brillant concept- as good as anything I've seen in the UK", "The Leading Men" are in a class of their own and truly unforgettable. "The Leading Men" are Scott Irwin, Derek Metzger, Ian Stenlake, David Dixon, Wayne Scott Kermond, Darryl Lovegrove, James Lee and Mitchell Butel.  We congratulate each and every one of them!

The Australian Event Awards ceremony will be held on Thursday October 6th at Sydney Olympic Park.

Two encores for "Jersey to Motown" at the Day of Difference Ball!

"Jersey to Motown" enjoyed an exceptional debut on the Corporate stage performing at the "Day of Difference Crystal Ball" at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney, Saturday 20th August.  In no time at all, the boys had the crowd dancing up a storm in fact - there was no enough space on the dance floor!  The audience would not let them go - screaming for more and the boys did not one, but two encores! Funds raised on the night enable Day of Difference to provide assistance to critically injured children and their families and will also help fund the first "Family Support Coordinator for Children's Hospital Westmead".  Said Ron Delezio, Executive Chairman & Founder of this extraordinary charity -

"Jersey to Motown"' were one of the key highlights of the night.  Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the whole performance. The choreography, the vast song repertoire and the enthusiasm of the group really set the tone for the night and had the majority of guests out of their seats. Everyone at the Day of Difference 2011 Crystal Ball offers their sincere thanks"

Ron Delezio, Executive Chairman & Founder Day of Difference

Well done boys while all that adulation must feel really good - the best part is being able to help charities like Day of Difference raise vital funds that will help extend their abilities to enhance the  life changing journey from intensive care through to recovery for critically injured children and their families.  Thanks to Emma Lloyd for excellent organisation and for the chance to be involved with Day of Difference - you are all amazing!

Darryl and Harmony wow 'em at The Grand Hyatt Melbourne!

Darryl and 11 year old Harmony had a ball performing for the Australian Automobile Dealers Association at Melbourne's Grand Hyatt on Saturday 20th August.  Harmony loved the chance to meet "Australia's got Talent" runner up - the extraordinary magician "Cosertino" who dazzled guests pre-show with his incredible slight of hand.  Then Harmony and Darryl took to the stage performing their signature duet "The Prayer" and some solos including "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Harmony before they finished with 'Time to Say Goodbye".  MC Ian Leslie seemed legitimately surprised that such a big voice could come out of such a little girl - asking Harmony how long she has been singing and who her favourite singers are.  Thanks AADA for being such superb hosts and great audience!
